Railroad and Heritage Museum
The Railroad and Heritage Museum is a  functioning station, with two trains daily. Theirhours are Tuesday  through Saturday 10:00 until 4:00 and Sundays 12:00 to 4:00.

Construction on the Santa Fe Depot began in August 1909, and was completed January 29, 1911. The initial cost was more than $200,000  It is featured in Jay C. Henry's Architecture in Texas 1895  - 1945, University of Texas Press, 1993.

In 1995 the City of Temple purchased the building  and roughly 8 acres of land around the depot. A grant application was submitted  in 1996 for funds from the Texas Department of Transportation. The $2.4 Million was approved for the depot's restoration which began in September 1999, and was  completed in August 2000.

Moody's Santa Fe Depot
Plans have been made to  move this depot to the site of the Railroad Museum early next year. It is possible that it would be converted into a restaurant. All of the exhibits have  been moved to the new museum.

Downtown Restoration
The big preservation news is the stabilized facades just south and east of the square. The brickwork on the upper  portion of the buildings was worth restoring.  The City of Temple took over the project and is producing a pleasant downtown atmosphere

Arcadia Theater
Built in 1928 as a live performance and silent movie showplace; with stars such as Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Robert Mitchum and  Sandra Dee lighting up the stage.
After passing through several ownerships, the Arcadia was closed in 1978, almost 50 years to the day after its  opening.  Renovations plans our in process to reopen this  beautiful and  historic theatre.
